Many of the complaints about housing associations are related to the larger groups that are not local and do not understand local conditions and need in the same way that local housing associations do.
However, this is just such the type of organisations that politicians of all colours drive towards on the basis that bigger is better and more cost effective.
These days, most HAs publish their accounts, all have to issue tenant annual reports produced with tenants, have tenant scrutiny panels, work closely with their tenants. It is the few again larger ones that are so remote and their CEOs do take the **** when it comes to remuneration and give the rest a bad name. It's those ones that anyone in their right mind should be calling to account instead of tarring all HAs with the same brush.
I don't know anywhere else in the private or public sector where customers are so actively involved to the benefit of the organisation. I just hope that David Orr can put a massive great sock in the loveley Mr Shapps motor mouth. Unfortunately I feel the said mouth is just too big to fill with sock!
