Lloyd - I certainly appreciate that people with low needs scores often have to move to an area they can afford to live in. I had to do exactly that in order to buy my first house. I had to buy in a different COUNTY and commute to work, because I could not afford to buy in the town where I was working.
...and I could only afford to buy an ex-Council house, otherwise I would have been renting the room I was living in for years while I tried to save up enough for a deposit in a booming housing market where prices were rising faster than my savings could keep pace with.
I don't understand why you say "I do not believe a LA secure tenancy should be a right for life". Security of tenure is essential for many people, especially families with children.
There is no reason why tenants should not have security of tenure if they need the home they are living in and they are paying the appropriate rent for it - what possible benefit would there be from removing their security of tenure?
