I have some concerns about the Green Deal. Only big companies can do buiding works under the Green Deal such as energy companies. It is a conflict of interest. They make profit on selling us energy, not saving it.
How do I know the price of quoted works are fair and reasonable?. Works may cost £2,000 by an independent builder, but the energy companies may well say quote you £8,000.
The green deal supplier will add the cost of the £8,000 onto the electricity/gas meter, which has to be paid off over the long term and it can include interest. The debt stays with the supply at the property.
