Inside Housing - this article is incorrect. It says:
"The government has pledged to build a replacement affordable rented home for every property sold."
This is certainly the impression they have given, but that is not what the policy actually is.
The policy is to provide a replacement Affordable Rented property for every ADDITIONAL RtB sale above and beyond the already 'budgeted' number of RtB sales.
This is nothing like a one-for-one replacement policy, and the government needs to be hammered hard in the press over giving out the impression that it was.
One-for-one replacement is needed so that sufficient new stock is provided to satisfy newly arising housing need.
