Some of us have enquiring minds that race a little bit ......
Scenario 1. Deserted tenant with children and lives in a three bedroom house -- is deemed to have 1 spare bedroom as ler 'bedroon tax'.
Housing association transfers said tenant to a 2 bedroom house (locally that property would have been tarted up before reletting) on social rent rate. So far so good -- especially as the rent would be cheaper than a 3 bed house even though the children would have to share.
Scenario 2: Same landlord, same tenant, same situation except landlord has no suitable 'downsize property' and transfers tenant to a 2 bedroom amd 1 boxroom property at up to 80% market rent which is around the price of the 3 bedroom property in Scenario 1.
Nobody loses much, landlord gets rent at the same rate that the 3 bedroom house that becomes a 2 bedroom and 1 boxroom.
No doubt my thinking is faulty but sometimes the government's (of all hues) is faulty.
