I'm with brand on this. Nigel L, there are plenty of ways to get the info, HMRC being one that springs to mind, and as the average worker pays appx 30 - 35% of their salary towards their housing costs, why should we allow others to abuse the whole concept of social housing in these times of shortages? ..why the Govt are looking at this can they also explain why people on this kind of salary need child benefit?
I too know of a single parent, solictor, living in social housing (a nice 2 bed Georgian house with the associated free repairs and maintenance) who can afford to send her child to private school near her chambers..and what's the minimum cost of that per term? It just seems wrong that social housing isn't being allocated as per needs or that rents for social housing aren't means tested and adjusted accordingly IMHO.
