After what's gone before we should no longer be surprised by announcements such as this.
The real question that needs to be asked is - how is this being allowed to happen and what needs to be done to fight this?
There appear to be far too many with an interest in social justice that are simply silent on these matters. I have talked to many who call themselves left wing, or interested in social justice and some sort of social democratic principles who simply aren't interested that thousands of people are losing their homes due to the housing benefit cap.
Is it that too many of us no longer care? Are we too removed from the harsh realities of the lives of others that we simply cannot understand how others live? I know very few people who consider themselves of the left who actually believe that there are others that go without food because they simply do not make enough money to survive whether on unemployment benefit or in work. If I can't persuade these people how bad things are, what hope is there?
