I gather from recent DWP figures (published a few days ago) that most HB claimants are women, and that many of them have children. I have no idea what % of these women are under 25; but by extension if HB is cut then women will be the hardest hit group.
They are already more likely to be on lower pay than men, and (I believe) more likely to lose their jobs. Which ever way you look at it, women stand to lose more from the recession.
So much for the march of progress. I'd be a poor feminist at best, but I think it's ironic that this cabinet of men (I use the word loosely) will push millions of women over the brink, and into the frosty arms of poverty.
Many women in this position have children, so if they become homeless then their children will probably go into care. Life in modern England? Let David Cameron DARE to use the word 'immoral' and I know where he can put it.
