A society may be defined by how it cares for its vulnerable.
Many faiths, Judaism and the other Abrahamic faiths for instance, demand of its followers that they care for the sick, elderly and infirm, widowed and orphaned as they would care for themselves. This is true of the Eastern faiths, and even of those who term their belief as Communism.
I presume therefore that our current government is made up of faithless persons, or persons with much to discuss when they come before God. After all, when looking at those government who rejected caring and instead took to harming the vulnerable, they are a sorry historical example for our society to be now following.
