Ridgehill merger ‘by end of year'
Ridgehill Housing Association hopes to join the group structure of the William Sutton Trust by the end of the year.
The announcement that Ridgehill has picked William Sutton as its preferred partner comes a month after negotiations with Network Housing Group were called off (Inside Housing, 7 March).
Acting chief executive Julian Ashby said that joining a group structure would help remove the association from Housing Corporation supervision.
‘We were given quite a clear steer from the Housing Corporation that we would get out of supervision more quickly if we chose a group structure,' he said.
Negotiations are now underway on the details of the proposed merger. Mr Ashby said Ridgehill was keen to safeguard its autonomy as a transfer landlord but William Sutton could provide improved central technical support in areas such as IT and human resources.
It was hoped that the detailed negotiations could be concluded before the summer and the final merger completed before the end of the year, he added.
