I think this a good idea, I would like to establish a local tenant voice and then a regional tenant voice, currently working with a number of tenants across Coventry. I have asked the TSA if any funding would be available this year, but looks like most things are on hold until new staff in place and the Tenant Voice is set up this summer. If anyone would like to help in the West Midlands I would like to hear from you. What affects one RSL affects us all.
Any ideas on funding greatly received and I do like a challenge!

So, you have asked the establishment for funding so that tenants can access rights from the establishment which the establishment are supposed to ensure are available to tenants.Good luck with that one. The point of a body made up of tenants is that they truly represent tenants and can question the established way of doing things and when tenants cannot get a hearing through established channels, can apply pressure.
There are many policies, procedures, people employed to ensure tenancies dealt with a fairness and probity and despite the millions going into these positions tenants voices are not being heard.

I believe I can biggest up my previous Housing Association they adhere to the Rules and Regulations along with Policy's and Procedure's but the one I with now you would have to see it to believe it - I do not wish to go on and on but they is nothing I can trust or believe was is being quoted because figures do not add up - Tenant's pick out by Chief Exective and Directors to go on these Resident Forum and Panel and Board Members group know to these members of staff because we the Tenant's not voting them in and we know from the way are meeting taken over by these so called Chief Exective and Directors these members of staff not adhere to own Policy and Procedures and Tenant's under Complaint Procedures left for months whereby if take to the Housing Ombusman have to produced alot of paper work some Tenant's have not got that Fire in they Belly's to Fight or the time or engery without putting they health at risks - Housing Association Tenant's need a voice - I heard from TSA Peter Marsh at the Conference Customers Trigger but I understand they only see the Complaints via the Housing Ombusman and another hearsay and gossip at our Housing Association is that Officer's of the Housing Association pick out whom from the Tenant's of the Group's will be present the day of the Audit Inspection - Understand I know in my heart I not the only Tenant whom can see what going on but I am not a Organisation I am a Tenant and can see a CON-MAN looking me in the eye's but I do not have the power to investiged nor get a body to investiged in passed before I was not involved I believe the facts and figures but no more since I have been involved I wish I was a fly on the wall I want at least for the Freedom of Information Act to apply to these Housing Association- Please do not tell me to bring it up at the meeting because we are shut up and moved on by the Chair and again all these Policy and Procedure all Housing Association should be made to abide by the same Rules and Regulations

Dear Eva

I would galdly join a Tenant's Union or Tenant's Federation.

Housing associations have taken their Tenant's for granted fro far too long!

Why start from scratch - if enough people joined TAROE to liven it up?
http://www.taroe.org/

TAROE, the Tenants’ and Residents’ Organisations of England, is a democratically run, accountable, national organisation which unites tenants’ and residents’ groups from the regulated housing sector across England.

is it not impossible to get our own tenant complaints to gather as a body to support each other, at 72yrs I have done all you all have spoken of, to do for over 2 yrs. but get no where, just closed ranks, cannot be bothered, too scared to go up against authority, why do we put up with it, we should find away to get our voice heard and PUBLISHED?Idealistically BBC 2 documentary Dispatches?or similar? (maggi ex Londoner living in Coventry west midlands hell, )and still fighting if it kills me, think about it, just talk does nothing, pity negative, start thinking to help each other? it takes guts and determination, but would like to see before I pop off?

Margaret Rose mc mullan said Regarding (late ok)New housing association for Tenants? (Federation of housing associations?) I have searched but find no responses? Some thing similar is desperately needed if you intend to help Tenants who have no voice and are victims? as one body supporting each other, and questioning etc?. Being persistent and not giving in to their detached attitude to tenants problems. The possibility of-if? housing associations, realized that all airiers of tenants around the UK united together? had a voice for accountability of polices and staff attitudes and responses to tenants. We have to be as deviouse as them, and try to get the issues exposed publicly, so possibly politicians and powers that be, will investigated, At the present time there are documentaries on media exposing several companies and association, as people are (whistle blowing?) or getting to gather and reporting issues, as we have. This is people life's they are playing with? It maybe not as idealistic and functional to some? But organized and determination it is possible (from little acorns grow?) do not make the excuse no funds, if proved they are worthy, some one some where will back, it doesn't take funds to letter write, or ask questions, or let people know to pass information on that they exist for tenants, It dosnt need people who are out for self esteem or idealistic, it will be hard, often thank less battle to start , but with participants, and enthusiasm, some will wain under the pressure, with attitudes, and undermining that will be thrown at the group. So Please realize if you consider evolvement it is not your education or position pacifically, it is for each other, and all without a voice. Some tenants often intimidated, to give up, summit, even extending to ill health even suicide? we all know these things (now) happen in the real world. Obviously I am too old, but suffered horrendous experiences, it has made me appreciate how many more not as capable as myself at my age and many vulnerable people are there out there going through this hell, I would love a survey done to find out? But I would like to be involved and support my time in any way I can, those with the brains and determination and guts to get it of the ground and made public. Maggi

Hi

Tenants get very little support as they are isolated when they have a problem with their landlord. I was a council tenant by choice because I could always see the local councillor when the officers acted the fool. Now I am a housing association tenant by majority vote and its been a nightmare - no sensible decisions, tenants association closed down, no natural justice......etc etc

Did the MP ever acknowledge how the policies that he supports would not lead to rent reductions but would instead lead to the mass displacement of the poor?

This would cause chaos with people pulling all sorts of scams to get a tenancy. If they need to be housed and qualify for social housing, then they need to get themselves on the waiting list where they will be allocated a home as and when one comes available also their needs must be assessed against the needs of everyone else on the waiting list.
