Just a thought for Carol (or anyone ekse being bullied either by contactors or their H.A. Bullying is harrassment. Harrassment is a criminal offence. Tell em this in writing. If they continue, get a legal aid solicitor or a housing advice lawyer to write a letter to the Chief executive- you should always copy to him/her and the chair of the Board, anyway.

Harrassnebt really is a serious offence. I informed my (private) landlady of this and probably for the first time in her life she found she couldn't phone me whenever it suited her or come into the house without my permission. She had to pay her solicitor to write to me instead, and I think that really hurt!

As for contractors turning up when they like, NO. It may be the HAs property but it's YOUR HOME. They don't have the right to turn upwhen it suits them. they should make an appointment for when it suits you. My complaints helped to get the useless lift engineers and the useless gas check firm sacked. Yes, it took a lot of persistence but it happened.
They get away with stuff because tenants don't assert themselves. Be assertive! If you have to, take the ba*****s to Court! Stellaxx

I could write you a book! I'll just say this--

'There's no such thing as society', said the infamous Thatcher. Her government took the dole from schoolleavers. No sulking, skulking or gap years for them! Those luxuries are only for the offspring of the rich! Instead, every school leaver was promised a vacational training course. They got YOPs then the equally useless YTS. Not a few ended up homeless because of rows about money with their cash-strapped parents. Young single mums? Young men in prison, with no work skills? By the way, the UK locls up more of its young men than any other country in western Europe. These are the kids (or even the grandkids) of that first generation of school leavers who were cut off from society when they were refused the dole!
Do you know how underfunded the 'Family Planning' clinics are?
Why can't all our kids have classes of 20 max, like the rich have, where they can get proper attention and be encouraged to discover their talents?
Why not nationalise the Banks etc instead of handing them our cash? Ditto big manufacturers, who're presently at liberty to take the money and then take their manufacturing to a cheaper workforce overseas, where they won't be bothered with H&S laws or Unions?
Why not go after the big-time scroungers, those who 'earn' more than £100,000 a year, but pay tax at the same rate as those who earn a bit over £40,000?
Why not go after all those who keep their fortunes outside the U.K and pay no U.K. tax at all? Make it a crime to own more than 2 homes?
It's too easy to pick on the weak, the poor, the old, the sick or even the 'scroungers', who will never in a lifetime cost us what the seriously rich who get away with murder cos they and their mates make up the rules cost us!
Come on, think about it. In the 30s, the McDonald coalition said men who lived in a household where another family member had a job could NOT HAVE UNEMPLOYMENT PAY. So what did these young men for whom there was no work and who didn't want to live off their fathers or brothers do? They got married! That's what my father did. And then the Tory press had a campaign against 'Love on the Dole!'
The arrogance of the rich and their hangers-on knows no bounds. Please, don't encourage them.
