Armed robber evicted from home
A housing association has gained a possession order against a tenant who allowed friends to live at his home while he was in police custody for an armed robbery.
James McHendrie allowed two friends to live at his Weymouth home, which he rented from Synergy Housing, while in police custody. He last month pleaded guilty to armed robbery.
Synergy has now obtained a full possession order for the property, allowing them to evict Mr McHendrie. It has also secured anti-social behaviour injunctions against Mr McHendrie’s two friends following complaints about their behaviour from neighbours.
Jane Hills, anti-social behaviour team leader at Synergy Housing, said: ‘The removal of Mr McHendrie and of his associates from the property, and the subsequent prevention of them holding a future tenancy agreement with Synergy Housing is a real comfort for both the immediate neighbourhood and for other Synergy Housing communities.’
