Tenants opt to stay with council
Tenants in north west Leicestershire have voted overwhelmingly against stock transfer.
Ninety per cent of the 70 per cent of tenants who responded to North West Leicestershire Council’s consultation on the future of its stock said they wanted to stay with the authority.
Council leader Richard Blunt said he was delighted with the vote.
‘Now it is up to us to get on with running the housing service using the limited funds available.’
David Taylor, MP for north west Leicestershire, said he was unconvinced that transfer was the best solution for tenants ‘and it seems that the vast majority of tenants agree’.
