Really delighted to see the BRE/CIEH calculator being used to show potential savings to the NHS. Neeraj has shown the benefit of the use of the calculator correctly with a large population. The calculator was developed to show costs to the NHS across an average population within a large area. Once the dwelling numbers are reduced below that of an average district the methodology becomes flawed. The BRE have now developed a much more sophisticated methodology which looks at health costs associated with hazards and the benefits when hazards are mitigated. This gives real measurements and can be used as a quantification tool for health impact assessments associated with housing intervention work
