We did not mean to cause offence

I was surprised to receive John Badcock’s email complaining about our advert in Inside Housing.

The image chosen pays homage to the artist Roy Lichtenstein. I hoped it was instantly recognisable to many and it in no way condones domestic violence. My intention with the caption was to play on the classic break-up line: ‘It’s not about you, it’s about me’.

Obviously, I am sorry if the advert caused offence. It was not my intention; I just don’t draw the same inference from the picture and caption that you have.
