The growing number of people forced to sleep rough in the UK has prompted outrage among housing professionals. Over the past year, Inside Housing has sought to explore the realities of homelessness and the potential solutions.
Earlier in the year we were fortunate to work with the Choir with No Name, a charity that runs choirs for homeless and marginalised people in several major cities. The charity’s work is remarkable, and we are proud to support them with our Christmas appeal.
Choirs give voice to people overcoming a range of problems, helping them to build confidence, become part of a community and build self-worth. The choirs’ powerful performances also help to counter the negative stereotypes perpetuated about homeless people.
We urge our readers – individuals and organisations – to join us in making a donation to support the Choir’s Big Christmas Singalong in Brighton on 15 December and work to establish a new choir. To find out more and make a donation, visit www.insidehousing.co.uk/choir.
