Clarion launches charitable foundation #ukhousing

Clarion Futures will provide support to Clarion residents through three arms of the organisation: jobs and training, money and digital, and communities.

Clarion already has an employment support service to help residents develop their skills and get into work. Under Clarion Futures the jobs and training arm will be expanded, with a target to help 4,000 people into work every year, including placing 250 people into apprenticeships through positions at Clarion and other employers.

Residents will also receive support with financial guidance and be helped to get online. The third part of Clarion Futures’ work will focus on funding local community groups. The team will support 75 community centres to deliver programmes across the country. It will also provide grants totalling £250,000 to local groups every year.

The foundation will support young people to get involved with volunteering and sports programmes, aiming to help 15,000 young people every year.

Keith Exford, group chief executive of Clarion, said: “Critics of the housing sector sometimes claim we have lost our social purpose; they couldn’t be more wrong. Our mission is to change lives and communities for the better and Clarion Futures will allow us to do this on a bigger and more ambitious scale than ever before.”

Sue Killen, chair of Clarion Futures, said: “With the national spotlight on social housing, I am especially proud we are launching Clarion Futures now. We are not just a social landlord; what drives everyone at Clarion is the desire to maximise the opportunities we provide to our residents.

“Clarion Futures will build on our record of delivery and enable us to transform the lives of thousands more people.”
