Police make first arrest in Grenfell investigation
Police investigating the Grenfell Tower fire have made their first arrest.
Scotland Yard said on Saturday night that a 38-year-old man had been detained in Sussex on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
He was taken to a local police station and was later released under investigation.
The Met said the arrest was not related to events at the Grenfell Tower Inquiry last week.

Last Monday at the inquiry, Claire Williams, project manager for the tower’s refurbishment at Kensington & Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO), admitted that she binned records and notes on the scheme in 2018.
Peter Maddison, who was director of assets and regeneration at KCTMO, had also handed over personal notes and diaries from the period covering the refurbishment, having previously kept them in his home and not mentioned them to the police.
Following the revelations, police said they would “seek to establish the facts and assess whether a criminal offence may have been committed”.
The inquiry continues.
