TfL gets green light for 450-home Wembley scheme
Joint venture (JV) partners Transport for London (TfL) and Barratt London have been granted planning permission for a 450-home scheme in Wembley.
Brent Council has given the green light to the proposals, which will see 454 homes built next to Wembley Park underground station, of which 40% will be affordable.
The new homes will range from studio apartments to three-bedroom properties and the affordable tenures will be a mix of intermediate housing, such as shared ownership, and London Affordable Rent.
A retail unit, improvements to the public realm and a new operational space for TfL will also be delivered as part of the scheme, designed by TateHindle architects.

With the exception of blue badge parking, the scheme will be car-free, with residents encouraged to cycle or use the nearby public transport links instead.
Solar panels and air source heat pumps will be installed in the scheme and the homes have been designed to encourage natural light.
Planning permission comes almost a year after TfL announced it had established a JV with Barratt London to deliver the scheme. At the time, TfL said 50% of the homes on the scheme would be affordable.
Emma Hatch, senior property development manager at TfL, said: “We are thrilled to get the go-ahead for our development at Wembley, which will deliver hundreds of new homes as well as a new retail opportunity and improvements for the local community.
“This is the second project with Barratt London and builds on our track record for delivering much-needed new homes in the capital. Our first homes at Blackhorse View in Waltham Forest started selling earlier this year, showing our developments have been designed thoughtfully with both the community and residents in mind.”
