A Welsh housing association has launched a campaign to encourage more private landlords to lease their properties.
Cardiff-based Cadwyn already manages more than 400 homes leased from the private sector, but says it needs more to keep up with demand.
The 1,350-home landlord hopes #The400 campaign will help it reduce the number of families in the city without a secure home.
Cardiff Council currently has around 8,000 households on its housing waiting list, with roughly 400 new applications each month.
Helen Armstrong, director of business development at Cadwyn, said: “Cadwyn has been leasing properties from private landlords for 14 years.
“We are well experienced in looking after your property, guaranteeing your rent and we also give you the chance to help someone who otherwise might be homeless.
“Lease your property to us and provide a home for one of the 400. You won’t regret it.”
The model sees Cadwyn guarantee rent for the landlords and handle repairs at the leased homes.
Lynda Thorne, cabinet member for housing and communities at Cardiff Council, said: “We understand the importance of a good-quality home for people’s well-being and while we are doing everything we can to increase the amount of affordable housing in the city, including building 2,000 new council homes and buying back property from the market, there is still significant pressure on the housing waiting list.
“That’s why we are happy to support Cadwyn, and back their campaign to encourage more private landlords to work with them, to be able to provide decent homes for people who need them.”
