The North East-based landlords have been working together in a cost-sharing partnership since 2016 and will now consult with stakeholders about formalising the partnership.

Karbon Homes, which owns and manages 26,000 properties, has been delivering repairs and maintenance, grounds maintenance, income management and sheltered housing as well as central services such as finance and IT for BCT.

“This has resulted in significant savings, improved performance and increased customer satisfaction,” Karbon Homes said.

BCT is now seeking views of its customers and stakeholders about the proposed partnership via a consultation which will run until the end of October.

If successful, the housing associations plan to have a formal partnership in place by April 2021.

Karbon Homes was formed in 2017 following a merger between Isos Housing, Cestria Community Housing and Derwentside Homes.

The move comes after London-based Catalyst announced it is in “early partnership discussions” with Rosebery Housing Association.
