The membership organisation lobbies for the role of community-focused housing providers and is currently running an all-party parliamentary group looking at unemployment and in-work poverty.

Successful applicants must meet the five PlaceShapers principles, which include putting residents at the heart of the organisation and responding to the needs of local communities.

Sinéad Butters, chair of PlaceShapers, said: “We want PlaceShapers to be the national network which can bring the values driven social housing sector together, creating a unified voice for the community-based social housing sector.

“We believe others that share our ethos and values joining PlaceShapers will make us a stronger organisation with a broader base and links into more networks.

“We have been contacted by others which share our vision but who we have been unable to accommodate. This removes artificial barriers to organisations with whom we have a shared history but have chosen alternative legal structures, often following extensive consultation with their tenants.”
