LGBT+ housing advice service Stonewall Housing is hunting for a new chief executive, as its current boss is stepping down after nearly 14 years.
Bob Green, who joined the group in June 2006, will leave at the end of December, Stonewall said this week.
Mr Green, who received an OBE in 2017, told Inside Housing he is leaving because he wants to “do something different”.
He added: “None of us are getting younger and as we approach a new decade, it’s time for a change.”
Mr Green said he has no plans yet but is “looking forward to the search for my next chapter”.
Stonewall Housing was set up in 1983 to help LGBT+ people find safe and secure homes.
In an interview with Inside Housing in 2017, Mr Green said Stonewall worked with housing associations to “review policies, improve ways of working and train staff” concerning LGBT+ issues.
Stonewall Housing’s chair Helen Randall said: “Bob’s unwavering dedication to Stonewall Housing has changed (and sometimes even saved) the lives of many thousands of vulnerable and homeless LGBT+ people.
“I’d like to pay tribute to his vision and steadfastness, which have steered the organisation through austere times, and his strong collaborative skills, which have inspired many of our partners.”
Stonewall’s board of trustees has kicked off its search for a replacement.
The not-for-profit organisation is funded by a variety of sources, including four London councils, L&Q and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
