An 18-month-old child died last week after falling from the window of a tower block owned by a London council.
Emergency services were called to Stellar House in Tottenham on Thursday morning following reports of “a baby falling from height”, the Metropolitan Police said.
The boy was found in a critical condition and was taken to a north London hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11.39am.
Haringey Council owns the 19-storey block and it is managed by ALMO Homes for Haringey.
The police has said that enquiries into the “full circumstances” surrounding the toddler’s death are continuing.
No arrests have been made, while the Health and Safety Executive told Inside Housing it is not investigating.
Formal identification and a post-mortem “will take place in due course”, according to the Met.
Zina Etheridge, chief executive of Haringey Council, said on behalf of the authority and its ALMO: “Our deepest sympathies are with the family at this time.
“We can confirm that the block is managed by Homes for Haringey, who are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances.
“The police are currently investigating and it would be inappropriate for us to comment further, or speculate, until more is known about this very sad incident.”
