Housing association moves

Clare McCarty, chief executive of Northern Ireland’s Clanmil Housing, has announced plans to retire at the end of 2021, having led the organisation since 1984.
Anna Simpson has been appointed director of resources and deputy chief executive at Freebridge Community Housing, and began her role on 15 February. She was most recently executive director of finance and resources at Midland Heart and replaces Dave Marshall.
Yorkshire Housing has appointed Cath Owston as executive director of customer experience and Andy Gamble as executive director of growth and assets. Ms Owston was previously interim director of customer services at the landlord and Mr Gamble was previously development director.
Chris Fairs has been appointed head of governance and risk at West Kent, and began the newly created role on 15 February. He was previously head of compliance and risk management and group company secretary at Argenta Private Capital.
Emma Humphries (pictured above) has been appointed head of operational services at The Wrekin Housing Group and started her role on 2 February. She was previously operational services manager at the landlord and replaces David Wells, who is now executive director of operational services.
Joe Marshall has been appointed managing director, new homes (counties) at Catalyst Housing Group, beginning his role on 22 February. He was previously land and partnerships director at Catalyst and replaces Andrew Almond, who served as interim managing director for the past 12 months.
David Chadwick has been appointed director of property and commercial operations at Beyond Housing. Mr Chadwick previously worked as head of operations at Fix360.
Andrew Bradley has been appointed head of asset management and decarbonisation at Cardiff Community Housing Association, and started his role on 1 February. He was previously assets and compliance manager at the same organisation.
David March has been appointed to the newly created role of head of environmental sustainability at Orbit Group. He was previously group environmental manager at Engie UK & Ireland.
Orbit Group has also appointed Stephen Smith and Massy Larizadeh to its board. Mr Smith has spent five years as a member of the National Audit Office’s board and as executive director with joint responsibility for financial audit. Ms Larizadeh has 30 years’ experience in financial services, and has worked for companies including GE Real Estate, Cushman & Wakefield Investors and Deloitte.
Ian Davies has been appointed director of property services at EMH Group, and started his role on 15 February. He was previously national operations director at Metropolitan Thames Valley.
Selwood Housing Group has appointed David Knight and Valerie Lee as non-executive directors. Mr Knight is a former partner at PwC and Ms Lee has held director positions at Debenhams and Clarks.
Cairistine Foster-Cannan has been appointed director of customers and communities at Orwell Housing Association. She was formerly head of housing at East Suffolk Council.
Carl Brazier has been appointed director for homes and neighbourhoods at Plymouth Community Homes. He was previously director of housing and customer service at Stoke-on-Trent Council.
Sonia Furzland is the new executive director of operations at Newport City Homes, taking over from Robert Lynbeck, who retired last year. Ms Furzland was previously executive director of landlord services at Knightstone Housing.

David Montague has been named chair of house builder Joseph Homes. He was previously chief executive of L&Q.
Data management organisation Illumar has appointed Peter Luke as commercial director and Jonathan Gould as client solutions consultant. Both roles are newly created. Mr Luke joins from social housing software company Gas Tag, where he was commercial director, while Mr Gould worked previously for social housing specialists Ark Consultancy as a senior consultant.
Communities that Work, a representative group of housing providers that support residents into employment, has appointed two new board members. Charmaine Simei (pictured above) is director of community investment at Longhurst Group and Suzanne Jobson is foundations for life manager at Karbon Homes.
Eleanor Ogilvie, senior land and partnerships manager at MCI Developments, has been announced as North West chair at Women in Property.
Iain McCann has been appointed commercial director at Keepmoat Homes’ East Midlands region. He joins having previously worked as group commercial director at Morris Homes.
Nathan Astley has been appointed commercial director (North West) at house builder Vistry Partnerships. He joins from Create Construction, where he was pre-construction and aftercare director.
The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust has appointed Alistair Brown and Gillian Russell to its board. Mr Brown is an accountant who has worked on the Universal Credit programme and Ms Russell is a senior finance partner at Deloitte.
