Routine and planned investment works, such as kitchen and bathroom replacements and external decorating at all Genesis properties, will be included in the four-year contract. It will also provide responsive repairs for Genesis’ homes in East London and the East of England, while the remainder will continue to be serviced by Genesis’ in-house service.

Kier was selected following a tendering process, which drew on feedback from residents and assessed companies against criteria including customer service, value for money and corporate social responsibility.

This deal will put a strong emphasis on local sub-contractors and suppliers, and Kier and Genesis will be working together to open up employment and apprenticeship opportunities to residents.

The pair will be phasing in the start of external painting work from mid-July, with responsive repairs starting in mid-October.

Neil Hadden, chief executive of Genesis Housing Association, said: ‘This is an exciting new partnership that will help to ensure we’re meeting our residents’ needs. Customer focus was key throughout the tendering process, and we’re confident that in Kier we’ve found a provider that understands the requirements of our customers and the values that run through everything we do.’
