A Welsh housing association has been cleared after an investigation into bullying and fraud #ukhousing

Mid Wales Housing this week confirmed investigations into allegations raised by a whistle-blower at the 1,600-home landlord have ended.

The Ceredigion and Powys-based association appointed Darwin Gray, a firm of solicitors based in Cardiff to investigate the allegations before Christmas.

In a statement to Inside Housing, the association said these investigations found “no evidence” of a culture or climate of bullying or specific bullying behaviour.

The investigation also found no evidence of fraudulent exploitation of the expenses process and allegations that the executive team had misled or withheld information from the board were also rejected.

A spokesperson for Mid Wales said: “Mid Wales Housing is determined to learn from this experience. The three detailed reports made several observations and recommendations for sensible improvements to strengthen policies and practices.

“The board has considered those recommendations and agrees that any improvements to the way [Mid Wales] works can only be a good thing for the organisation, staff and, most importantly, our tenants.”

The Welsh Government’s regulator of social housing wrote to the board at Mid Wales last week confirming it is satisfied with the handling of the allegations.

Its grading remains at the highest standard for governance, services and financial viability. This grading will not be reviewed until the routine annual assessment is due at the end of the year.
