Frank Czarnowski, who has been chief executive for nine years, will step down from the 7,000-home association later this year.

Mr Czarnowski joined the association in 2001 as finance director and was promoted to chief executive in 2010. A process has now begun to recruit his successor.

West Kent was established in 1989 as part of a stock transfer with Sevenoaks District Council, becoming one of the first large-scale voluntary transfer associations in the country. The majority of homes it owns are in Kent and Medway.

In 2017, West Kent secured loans totalling £54m to help drive plans to build 200 new homes every year.

Mr Czarnowski said: “I am proud that West Kent is in very good shape as it celebrates its 30th birthday. And as we enter our fourth decade, I feel it is a good time for someone else to take up the reins.

“Like many, I joined the sector by chance but have stayed for 23 years. I am leaving knowing that my time here has been rewarding and hopefully productive.”
