The Chartered Institute of Housing in Scotland has made a number of policy recommendations to the next Scottish Government ahead of May’s Holyrood election.
The CIH in Scotland, at is annual conference in Edinburgh today, called for measures to increase housing supply, improve quality of existing homes and mitigate the impacts of welfare reform.
Its Agenda for Change includes a call for consideration of land taxation measures to improve access to land, increased investment in affordable housing and the retention of a target ensuring two in three affordable homes are for social rent. It is also calling for energy efficiency to be designated an infrastructure priority, a reduction in value added tax on repairs and maintenance, and a Warm Homes Bill for Scotland. It wants the next Scottish government ot continue to provide fianncail assistance to those hit by welfare reform.
