Housing association wins approval for 125-home affordable scheme in Brighton #ukhousing

Clarion Housing Group, the UK’s largest social landlord, was granted full approval by Brighton & Hove City Council’s planning committee last week to build the development in Portslade, which will be “100% affordable”.

The scheme includes 28 homes for affordable rent and 97 homes for shared ownership. It will also involve nearby road improvement works.

Clarion has appointed Thakeham Client to build the development, which will be completed in early 2022.

“We are absolutely delighted to get the go-ahead to deliver this scheme which brings high-quality and much-needed affordable housing to the area.”

The planning committee also granted permission for the council to convert its former housing office into 10 flats for people in need of temporary housing as a way of saving money on expensive placements.
