The Grenfell Inquiry has found a new venue in west London for the second phase, due to start next year #ukhousing

Phase two of the inquiry will try to determine how the Grenfell Tower fire spread in 2017, killing 72 people.

Hearings for this phase will take place on the ground floor of 13 Bishop’s Bridge Road, west London, according to an update from the inquiry today.

The move comes in response to calls from Grenfell survivors to hold hearings nearer the tower, to make travelling easier for them and the bereaved.

The update posted on the inquiry’s website said: “We have written to core participants to inform them of the move, and to offer them and their legal representatives the opportunity to put forward any further suggestions or additional requirements.

“The inquiry is confident that the location and facilities that will be constructed over the coming months will provide a suitable venue for all participants.”

The first phase of the inquiry took place at Holborn Bars, a decision that was heavily criticised by some families.

Survivors are still waiting for Sir Martin Moore-Bick, the judge presiding over the inquiry, to issue his report on the first phase. It was originally due at Easter, but Sir Martin revealed last month that it will be delayed until October.
