Notting Hill Genesis, which owns 165 flats at Salvor Tower, said it has been in touch with the police over criminal damage to the 28-storey tower block.

Photographs taken last week show a group of people congregating on the roof of the building on the Isle of Dogs, east London.

Trespassers can be seen taking photographs standing close to the edge of the rooftop.

A spokesperson for Notting Hill Genesis said: “Salvor Tower is safe and secure following this incident earlier in the week, but on-site security patrols are being undertaken by the managing agent as a precaution.

“We take resident safety and security seriously and are working with the freeholder and managing agent at the building to ensure that a similar incident cannot reoccur.

“We are also in contact with the police as we understand access to the roof was gained by criminal damage and that there have been similar incidents elsewhere in Canary Wharf.”

Inside Housing has also heard reports of another building in the area, 53-storey Amory Tower, experiencing similar issues with trespassers.

A resident from the block, in which there are several Network Homes flats, said they have encountered trespassers several times in the past two weeks.

The witness said: “They are coming into the building with tenants and getting as far as the stairwell, encouraging tenants to let them through by claiming they have left keys or their mum isn’t home yet.

“Once in the building they wedge the doors open, to give the rest of the gang free access. They then go into the stairwell and access the building site via the door at the bottom of the stairs and go down to the basement level from the 16-52 lift lobby.”

A Network Homes spokesperson said: “We’re concerned about reports of trespassers at Amory Tower and have asked the freeholder to step up security immediately.

“As a result they will be employing extra security guards at key points in the building to prevent anyone from accessing the unoccupied floors and the roof. This is on top of the concierge who is already on site and who will be present 24 hours a day from Monday 7 June.

“We’ll continue to monitor the situation and work with the freeholder and residents to ensure the building remains secure.”
