Ms Osbourne recently helped to arrange the ‘tenant roadshows’ that the government used to consult social housing residents over the contents of its Social Housing Green Paper.

Tpas is a not-for-profit company that works with social landlords to improve tenant engagement. Ms Osbourne has worked at the company since 2002.

John Giesen, chair of Tpas, said: “It’s a fitting time to award Jenny with an MBE when social housing is so high on the public and political consciousness. This is a fantastic honour and I hope that Jenny and her family feel proud that all her hard work and dedication has been rightly recognised with the MBE.”

Nicholas Coombe, vice-chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council, who was interviewed by Inside Housing last February, received an MBE for services to fire safety.

A number of other sector figures were also honoured in the list. Jacqueline Locke Gorman, chief executive of Belfast-based Connswater Homes, was made an MBE for services to social housing.

Ian Swift, group services manager housing solutions at Southwark Council, was made an MBE for services to homeless people.

Jacqueline Robertson McKelvie, vice chair of Oak Tree Housing Association, was honoured for voluntary service to social housing in Inverclyde.

Ruby Bhatti, a solicitor who has chaired housing associations including Manningham, received an OBE for services to young people and housing.

Two civil servants in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government received MBEs: Gillian McManus, emergencies management resilience advisor, and Sandra Popoola, head of capability building and resourcing.

Alexander Farquharson, former director at The Marie Trust, a homelessness charity based in central Glasgow, was given an OBE for services to homeless people.

Dennis Rogers, a volunteer at south London homelessness charity Groundswell, was also honoured for services to homeless people.
