The housing association has handed responsibility to companies such as: Engie, Kier and Axis Europe for services ranging from installing fire doors and sprinklers to cladding remediation and electrical testing.

Contractors will also provide fire safety signage, emergency lighting, fire-proofing measures and business continuity planning.

Other companies which have been appointed include: CLM Fireproofing, fire safety specialist Protect24 and building contractor Diamond Build. The winning contractors were unveiled through the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) procurement process.

A framework is a general agreement made with suppliers to set out terms and conditions for the awarding of contracts by a number of organisations over a set period of time.

Hyde’s framework is divided into 12 lots covering different aspects of fire safety; each lot is worth around £200m and will run for four years. Between one and seven companies have been picked for each lot.

Public bodies will now be able to join the framework in order to access specialist contractors for their fire safety work without having to undergo their own procurement process.

Jake Le Page, fire safety taskforce lead at Hyde, said: “Fire safety is a really important issue and we are really proud to have established this framework with excellent partners and to have made it available to all public sector organisations to use.

“Resident safety has always been our priority and through this framework we can deliver quality services, ensure that we can manage and address fire safety issues accordingly and get better value for money.”
