Inside Housing’s editor and art director have been honoured at the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) awards.
Emma Maier, editor of Inside Housing, was named editor of the year for trade and professional magazines, topping a list of seven nominees.
Sonny Dhamu, the magazine’s art editor, won the coveted gong for cover of the year for his 23 June design.
The front cover, below, launched the magazine’s Never Again campaign, calling for changes from government and the sector to ensure the Grenfell tragedy is never repeated.
The campaign calls on government to fund the retrofitting of sprinklers in high rises and on landlords to carry out annual risk assessments and check cladding systems for fire safety.
Columnist Jules Birch was also shortlisted for columnist of the year in the trade media.
Inside Housing has also been nominated for news provider of the year at the British Journalism Awards, largely for its news coverage of the Grenfell disaster, and a number of International Building Press awards.
Ms Maier’s entry highlighted the magazine’s work in campaigning for Housing First solutions to rough sleeping through its Cathy At 50 campaign.
It also cited the magazine’s Never Again campaign and warnings over fire safety in the build-up to Grenfell.
