Lambeth Council’s registered provider appoints former Peabody director as new chair
Lambeth Council’s registered provider has appointed former Peabody director Alison Muir as its new chair.
Lambeth Council’s registered provider has appointed former Peabody director Alison Muir as its new chair #UKhousingHomes for Lambeth, the borough’s wholly owned housing delivery company, announced that Ms Muir will be replacing incumbent Richard Stevens as the chair of its registered provider arm, HFL Homes.
HFL Homes was established by the Lambeth Council in 2018 and secured registered provider status in 2019, paving the way for it to manage and own affordable housing.
Ms Muir has been a member of the HFL Homes board since February last year. She is currently the interim chief executive of south London housing association Chisel and sits on the board of Clarion, the country’s largest association.
Previously she was director of resident services at Peabody for two years and also chaired the G15’s housing directors group during that time.

Homes for Lambeth was set up in 2015 as part of Lambeth Council’s drive to build 1,000 homes at social rent level. It currently has more than 12 housing projects either in construction or planning across the south London borough.
The model the council uses will see Homes for Lambeth buy the homes it acquires or develops and then lease the properties to HFL Homes on a 250-year lease.
The changes to the board will see Mr Stevens move to chair Homes for Lambeth’s audit and risk committee and Wendy Stokes chair the new remuneration and nominations committee.
Ms Muir said: “I have been a member of this board for over a year and it has been a pleasure to work with such a talented and hard-working team to deliver on Homes for Lambeth’s goal of building thriving communities and better futures for residents.”
Caroline Pillay, chair of Homes for Lambeth, said: “Ms Muir brings a significant level of experience and lives by the values of strong governance and strategic planning that will be vital in delivering for residents.
“Our residents will have a high expectation from HFL Homes, and under Alison’s leadership and the commitment of HFL staff, those expectations will be met and surpassed.”
