Northern-based Your Housing Group has formed a £54m partnership with a maintenance provider and a services company to reinvest in its homes over the next five years.
The 28,000-home association signed the deal with Wates Living Space and Engie to work on more than 6,000 homes, replacing kitchens, bathrooms and heating.
It reached this decision following a two-year stock condition assessment with property specialists Savills.
Richard Woolfall, head of property services at Your Housing Group, said: “We’re passionate about building and managing high-quality homes and by modernising our existing properties people will no longer need to move house to enjoy living in a property they’re proud to call home.
“The savings that will result from the planned investment will be used to realise our ambitious commitment to build 5,700 more new homes across the North of England over the next five years.”
Wates has signed a few repairs contracts with housing associations already this year, including with Longhurst, Southern and Guinness Partnership.
John Flower, business director at Wates Living Space, added: “We are delighted to be working with Your Housing Group on this significant reinvestment programme. Our proven track record of improving homes, while creating a lasting legacy for communities across the UK, speaks for itself.”
Engie bought Keepmoat’s regeneration arm for £330m in March last year and has taken over many repairs contracts for social landlords around the country.
Neil Warburton, regeneration manager for the North West at Engie, said: “Your Housing Group is one of our long-standing partners in regeneration across the country and together we have completed a number of flagship projects in housing, new build and retirement living for older people.
“Our work with Your Housing Group will not only enrich lives across the North, but our wider corporate commitments mean we can offer employment and training opportunities for people in the areas where we’re working. We’ll also use a local supply chain and materials to boost economic and social value.”
