Catalyst has appointed a new executive director for development to lead the association’s new housebuilding programme.
Philip Jenkins will join the association, which manages 21,000 homes in London and the South East, from house builder Taylor Wimpey, where he held the role of managing director for the firm’s central London business.
Mr Jenkins will begin his new role in July. Catalyst’s acquisition of Aldwyck is expected to take place in early May.
Catalyst began talks to acquire Aldwyck last September, with the 9,000-home Bedfordshire-based housing association originally expected to become a subsidiary of Catalyst in April this year. News of the acquisition came two months after Ian McDermott, former chief executive of Aldwyck, was hired as Catalyst’s new boss.
Mr Jenkins said: “I am thrilled to be joining Catalyst just at the time when it is due to complete its merger with Aldwyck.
“Both businesses are already successful developers of new homes but the merged business, with the considerable talent and experience that will bring together, will create new opportunities to become a developer of significant scale and capability.
“I look forward to joining the team as the business begins its journey on this exciting next chapter of growth.”
Ian McDermott, chief executive of Catalyst, said: “Philip will lead on our ambition to build up to 1,300 homes each year, following full integration with Aldwyck, with 75% of these for either social and affordable rent or affordable homeownership.
“I’m also very pleased that Philip clearly brings an energy and commitment to improve our new and future customers’ experience.”
