L&Q receives green light for 3,000-home east London regeneration scheme #ukhousing

London’s largest housing association, which is delivering the scheme in a joint venture with Countryside Properties, has now received formal planning consent for the Beam Park project in Dagenham.

The development, which is on the site of a former Ford manufacturing plant, will provide 1,513 affordable homes when completed.

Preparatory work has begun on the site, with full construction set to start in the spring and sales of the new homes to start later this year.

The first phase of the site, which encompasses 650 homes, is expected to be completed by 2022.

The whole Beam Park project is expected to be completed in 2030 and will also include a new railway station and medical centre.

Andy Rowland, managing director for the east region at L&Q, said: “We welcome this milestone, which brings our plans for Beam Park one step closer to reality. The redevelopment of this site, which will provide 50% affordable housing, will make a substantial contribution towards London’s housing needs.

“L&Q’s vision is that everyone has a quality home that they can afford. We look forward to working closely with our partners to create a successful new community with benefits for new and existing residents.”
