Morning Briefing: reaction to Shelter commission report #ukhousing @shelter

In the news

The Shelter commission’s final report, which makes 23 recommendations to shake up housing, has dominated the housing news in the national media this morning.

The recommendations, including the building of three million new social homes by 2040 and a major overhaul of social housing consumer regulation, have been widely reported including in The Guardian and the Independent.

The Sun has run an opinion piece from one of the commissioners, Lord O’Neill. The former Conservative minister writes “what I’ve learnt about the depth of the current crisis has shocked me” and called the explosion of private renting the “number one enemy of aspiration”.
