Morning Briefing: Tory council leaders “unhappy with levels of social housing funding” #ukhousing

“Tory council bosses threaten to revolt against PM over spending too little on new social housing” was the headline in The Sun on bank holiday Monday. The newspaper reports a Joseph Rowntree Foundation survey of 121 Conservative council leaders which shows seven in 10 don’t believe the £2bn announced by Theresa May last year for affordable housing is enough.

The Guardian reported the same story here.

The Grenfell Inquiry resumes today and The Guardian has a piece about anger over the lack of attendees. The Financial Times ran an opinion piece yesterday calling for “those responsible for social housing in the area” to be held accountable.

You can read the latest reports from Inside Housing’s coverage of the Grenfell Inquiry here.
