A Welsh housing association censured by the regulator for failing to record data about health and safety checks has appointed a new chief executive.
Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA), which owns around 2,850 homes, became subject to regulatory intervention in March.
Inside Housing later revealed that the association was unable to gauge the risks to tenants in its properties because of poor data collection on health and safety testing.
CCHA has now announced that Hayley Selway, who is currently executive director for people and places at Taff Housing Association, will be its next permanent chief executive.
She will take over from interim chief executive Stephen Cook in the next few months, CCHA said.
Before moving to her role at Taff in 2016, Ms Selway was head of housing, community safety and building services at Vale of Glamorgan Council.
She said: “I am delighted to be appointed to lead CCHA on the next steps in its journey.
“It has been a difficult year for all involved in the organisation however I believe the building blocks are there to re-establish its reputation as a fantastic landlord, support provider and developer.”
Ms Selway will appoint a new senior leadership team at CCHA.
Duncan Forbes, chair of CCHA, said: “I am really pleased and excited to announce the appointment of Hayley Selway as the new chief executive of CCHA.”
Mr Forbes – who took over as head of the CCHA board earlier this year – is also interim chief executive of English housing association Connexus, which was downgraded by the Regulator of Social Housing last week.
