Barking & Dagenham regeneration vehicle strikes first deal
Barking & Dagenham Council’s regeneration company Be First has secured its first deal with a national developer.
Be First will work with Countryside to deliver 170 homes across multiple sites in the Wood Lane and Althorne Way areas of Dagenham.
The schemes will include 46 homes for shared ownership, while another 41 will be for rent through the council’s housing company Reside.
Pat Hayes, managing director for Be First, said: “This pioneering project is just one of many Be First will be working on.

“As London’s East End engine for homes and jobs, we will be powering on to make sure we provide the thousands of modern, environmentally friendly homes that local people need.”
Be First launched earlier this month, with plans to see 50,000 homes delivered in the borough over the next 20 years.
Andy Fancy, managing director at Countryside Partnerships South, said: “We are proud of our pledge to sustainability when building homes for the future. Becontree Heath is another exciting milestone in our agenda and reinforces our commitment to greener living and creating places people love.”
Countryside estimate developments will complete in September 2019.
