Regional procurement body appoints contractors to £340m housing development programme #ukhousing

A total of 29 contractors have been chosen for a new £340m social housing framework #ukhousing

EN:Procure, which is the procurement arm of regeneration body Efficiency North and made up of landlords, has awarded contracts to 29 companies over four lots for its new build housing framework.

With an anticipated pipeline of £340m over its four-year lifetime, the framework is intended to provide a supply chain for social housing landlords to enable them to build homes more quickly.

The new framework is predominantly for social housing in Yorkshire and the Humber but may extend to other public buildings, such as schools and offices, as well as other areas of the UK.

The four lots range from developments of up to 10 units to schemes with 70 homes or more.

Contractors who are now on the framework include local firms and national house builders, including Galliford Try, Lovell and Engie Regeneration.

The framework also allows social landlords to deliver homes through modern methods of construction, which includes modular homes.

A previous new build framework run by EN:Procure helped social landlords procure and deliver around 1,394 homes with an overall contract value of £177m.

The developers who have won a place on the framework are also obliged to provide training through their contracts, with a minimum of two training opportunities to be provided for every £1m of works value.

Emma Mottram, head of operations at EN:Procure, said: “[The framework] provides an intelligent procurement solution for new build schemes with maximum flexibility via the range of contract options and scheme development processes.

“We very much look forward to working with our landlords and the appointed contractors to develop schemes through the framework to help them meet demand for cross tenure new build housing.”
