Inside Housing senior reporter Rhiannon Bury has been named as the journalist of the year at the International Building Press awards.
Rhiannon won the housing and residential property journalist of the year award, and was then named as the overall winner from the eight individual categories at the awards ceremony last night.
The judges were impressed by the range of articles submitted, and the high standard of journalism throughout. A feature analysing how new homes bonus funding is being spent was singled out for particular praise.
The judges described it as a ‘classic piece of investigative journalism’ and ‘a job well done’.
Deputy features editor Jess McCabe also picked up an award, in the sustainable writer of the year category.
The judges praised an article on plans for a model village in Derwenthorpe in Yorkshire, and said they ‘couldn’t put the article down once they started – the ultimate accolade for any journalist’.
