Man charged over Grenfell burning effigy video

Police have charged a 46-year-old man after an investigation into a video posted online showing a cardboard effigy of Grenfell Tower being burned on a bonfire.

Man charged over Grenfell burning effigy video #ukhousing

Paul Bussetti, of South Norwood in south London, was charged on Friday with two counts of sending or causing to be sent grossly offensive material via a public communications network under the Communications Act (2003).

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 30 April.

Scotland Yard said that five other men, aged between 19 and 55, remain released under investigation after being arrested under the Public Order Act.

The video attracted widespread condemnation when it appeared online in November, including from survivors of the disaster and senior politicians.

Seventy-two people were killed by the Grenfell Tower blaze in June 2017.
