In the news

According to a number of national newspapers, several developers, house builders, councils and associations have been invited to tomorrow’s meeting to discuss how to fix the housing crisis.

According to a paywalled piece in The Telegraph, government sources say Ms May will “lay down a challenge” to the industry to build more homes, as ministers start work in preparation for the Autumn Budget on 22 November.

The Daily Mail says ministers may also use tomorrow’s summit to discuss ways of releasing more green belt land for housing.

Meanwhile chancellor Philip Hammond is coming under pressure from Conservative MPs to find money for a “radical housebuilding programme”, The Times reports.

Elsewhere, The Guardian is reporting on opposition to regeneration plans by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing.

On social media

The reports of Tuesday’s Number 10 summit have caught the imagination of housing’s Twitterati.
