A major report into the likely impact of Brexit on the UK’s labour market will be published later today. The BBC has some details here. The report follows months of concern from house builders about the potential impact, with a survey last week revealing nearly half of new builders believe a post-Brexit skills shortage will hamper their ability to build new homes.
Independent group the Social Metrics Commission has published a new definition of poverty. Philippa Stroud, the commission’s chair, and Campbell Robb, the chief executive of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, wrote a piece for the Guardian published yesterday afternoon calling on policymakers to use the evidence to alleviate poverty.
The Duchess of Sussex has been making ‘secret trips’ to help Grenfell survivors, reports The Sun. Meghan Markle has also reportedly been helping put together a cookbook that will raise money for the nearby Hubb Community Kitchen initative.

Greenwich Council has denied claims that it is ‘sitting on’ £23m of Section 106 money. Local news site This Is Local London also reports it has handed back around £117,000 to developers because it didn’t spend it in time. The council points out that this is less than quarter of 1% of Section 106 money it received between 2013 and 2016.
Bradford-based housing association Incommunities has appealed against a council decision to refuse permission one of its proposed developments, reports The Telegraph & Argus newspaper.
