Morning Briefing: catch up on all the latest housing news this morning #ukhousing

In the news

Dame Judith Hackitt, who is carrying out the government’s Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety, will brief the Communities and Local Government Select Committee at 2.30pm today.

The review was established by the Department for Communities and Local Government in August following the Grenfell Tower fire in June in which at least 71 people died. Its interim findings are expected shortly, and could even be published today, ahead of a final report in spring 2018.

MPs are likely to ask about the key findings so far, whether building regulations are fit for purpose and how the review is feeding in to the Grenfell Inquiry.

Elsewhere in the news, Scotland has met its target to house 2,000 Syrian refugees three years early, and Rooftop chief executive Boris Worrall says he is confident associations in the region will be delivering 5,000 homes a year by 2020.
